I 'fixed' one of my laptops that caught a major virus a few days before I got home. Now I can't get the two computers to see each other on the network. Big problem, but Im working on it.

What I did on my vacation

My dad's truck needed new brakes.

The old rotors were very badly ground by the rivets on the worn out pads.

I had to repack the wheel bearings with grease.

Merry Christmas

It wasn't easy or legal, but I finally made it home!:mrgreen::mrgreen:

I even got to play with my neice Rebekah (who you all know I dote over) :D for a few hours while her mom got stuff ready for tomorrow.

As far as I know I'll be back on the road January 3rd. That is currently the plan. If somebody makes me an offer I can't refuse (as far as employment is concered), well, things might change. I don't have any plans to do anything different right now. I love being an OTR driver, but my options are open.

You never know, some lucky lady might drag me off to Las Vegas for an Elvis wedding!  Seriously though, those who know me best know that I'm not meant to be a single guy. I need a second half to anchor me. When she comes along I'll be parking the truck.

The Wagon

It was the day after Christmas at a church in San Francisco. The pastor of the church was looking over the cradle when he noticed that the baby Jesus was missing from among the figures of the nativity set. Immediately he turned and went outside and saw a little boy with a red wagon, and in the wagon was the figure of the little infant, Jesus. So he walked up to the boy and said, "Well, where did you get Him, my fine friend?"

The little boy replied, "I got him from the church."

"And why did you take him?"

The boy said, "Well, about a week before Christmas I prayed to the little Lord Jesus and I told him if he would bring me a red wagon for Christmas I would give him a ride around the block in it."

QSL Card

Right after I finished fueling this morning in Maryland I was heading into the truck stop to fill my mug with soda. No luck, their ice machine was broken. (Not surprising, it was a TA truck stop. ) Before I got to the door I hear somebody yell Hey CRST! I turned around and Dave KB3EJW walked up and handed me one of his QSL cards. 8) QSL cards are postcard sized cards exchanged by hams to confirm contacts (QSLs) made on the air. I haven't had my own printed yet. :O

Dave recognized my High Sierra Sidekick antenna on the antennasaurus.

My new co-driver was right out of training when he got on the truck. He still had his temporary (paper print out) license, as his hard copy had not arrived in the mail. It expired. Even though he he has a valid license, he can't drive the truck because he dosen't have a copy of it in his posession.

I'll be driving solo till we get back to Fontana. Then we'll be on HT (Home Time) till January 2nd.

Lutefisk! The Wisconsin Employees' right to know law regarding toxic substances specifically exempts Lutefisk (Wisc. Stat. 101.58(2)(j)(2)(f))

I'll pass on the lutefisk, but the lefse is good.

It was -4°F when I took this!

A CDL is worthless without a valid Medical Certificate. Truck drivers get a physical every two years to renew their certificate. Sometimes there are problems. On my last physical my blood pressure was higher than allowed. They gave me a temporary certificate and I had to return in 3 months for a retest. I got some blood pressure medication and went back for my check up. Tested fine. Then the nurse asked me 'You need three tests, don't you?' She checked, and yes, to get my medical card reinstated I needed three good tests on three seperate days.

Wasted a couple days in Seattle, cost me some money, but I'm driving again.
Left & Right

My new co-driver is working out great. He sees things a little more left than I see them. I see things a little more right than he does. We have enough mutual respect for each other to make things work. Makes for some interesting conversations, though.

I'm sitting in Sparks, Nevada. Waiting for a load out. Thought I'd post my favorite picture of my brothers, Larry & Charley, and I. Kinda looks like a few mafioso's ready to bust somebody. It was taken at Larry's wedding.

Came thru Wyoming yesterday. Everything was a pain in the butt, but passable till the end. Around mm (Mile Marker) 29 everything all went south. Trucks going everywhere but straight. Huge mess!

If you are in front of me, please do not slam on your brakes in the snow. You know, if you follow at a reasonable distance, you don't need your brakes at all.
