The video from a Creative WebCam Live! Ultra is transmitted via a Verizon Wireless Broadband connection. With the use of an amplifier & external antenna I have been able to make the connection very reliable. It is, however, not 100%. To do that would need a direct satellite connection which would be very expensive and require a large external radome that CRST wouldn't let me mount on the truck.

Find me with APRS
The same position data from the GPS receiver that I use for navigation is transmitted by my Kenwood radio over the APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System)network developed & operated by Amateur Radio operators across the country. The radio transmits my position every 5 minutes, but I must be within range of a ham radio operator operating an Igate (Internet Gateway) for the Find Me with APRS button to get a current position.
